Inspired by the rich embroidery tradition of the Greek island of Naxos, the Naxos tile composition is a blend of straight lines and graceful curves, forming a harmonious geometrical composition.

The tile mural was part of the “Text-tiles: Embroidery on Clay” exhibition which took place in Stockholm on January 2023. In the translation and reworking of traditional fabric patterns into the ceramic surface, the mural is an exploration of the relationship between folklore and contemporary. Through shifts in color and context, the composition highlights aspects of the historic source imagery and encourages a new dialogue in painting and ceramics.
